We are Komang, Kris, and our daughter Puspa, and we warmly invite you to experience the real Bali with us.

Our Story – From Mountain Village to Kuta
We both come from small, remote villages in the mountains of North Bali near Mount Agung.
Life in the village is very different from busy tourist areas:
- Limited access to education
- Traditional ways of living and working
- Strong spiritual beliefs and community life
We are proud to have completed our education (Year 12), which is still uncommon in our village communities. We built EBC to share this world with you in a respectful and meaningful way.
A Personal Journey (Komang’s Story)
As a child, I spent time in Kuta selling bracelets to tourists, before returning to my village for school.
- Walked 5 km each way daily through mountain paths to get to school
- Helped my family collect grass for cows
- Experienced traditional village life and Hindu religious practices firsthand
In 2019, during the Mount Agung eruption, I returned to Kuta to continue school. I later graduated, got married, and started my family.
This journey is part of the story we share with our guests.

More About Our Family – Real Life in Bali
Balinese Hindu culture is deeply woven into our everyday lives here in Bali. Through EBC Experience Bali Culture, we love welcoming visitors and sharing our traditions in a way that is simple, respectful, and meaningful. Our hope is that you and your family not only learn about Bali, but truly feel connected to it.
Kris and I both grew up in small, remote villages in the mountains of North Bali, near the sacred Mount Agung. Life there is very different from the busy streets of places like Kuta. It is quieter, more traditional, and strongly connected to nature and spirituality. When my mother was a child, there was no electricity, no proper roads, and no access to school. Even today, life in many village communities remains simple, and opportunities for education can still be limited.
When I was young, I spent time in Kuta where my mother worked in a spa, and I sold bracelets on the beach with my cousins. We would spend our days talking with tourists, laughing, and enjoying small treats like ice cream. It was a happy time, but my education was always important to me.
At the age of eight, I returned to our village to attend school. I lived with my grandmother, aunt, uncle, and cousins while my mother continued working in Kuta. I loved learning and was determined to continue my education, even when it was difficult. I walked five kilometres to school each day along steep mountain paths, and sometimes made the journey twice a day to attend afternoon activities like Scouts.
Life outside of school was just as important. I helped my family collect grass to feed our cow, as many village families raise animals to earn a small income. My uncle climbs tall trees to collect palm sugar, which is still an important part of village life today, even though it is dangerous work.
In 2019, when Mount Agung erupted, my school had to close. I returned to Kuta to continue my education, and I am very proud that I was able to complete Year 12. In our village, it is common for girls to marry and have children at a young age, so finishing school was a very important achievement for me.
Kris also completed his education, which is something we are both proud of, as it is still quite rare in our village communities. He is trained in Silat, a traditional Indonesian martial art, and in 2020 he became the Champion of Bali and East Java. He continues to train and stay active.
We are now married and have our beautiful daughter, Puspa. She brings so much joy to our lives. Puspa attends pre-school, loves learning, and enjoys staying active. She is already following in her father’s footsteps by learning Taekwondo, which makes Kris very proud. Like many Balinese children, she is also involved in our Hindu ceremonies and traditions, learning from a young age about our culture and beliefs. We are very excited as there is another little one on the way. So soon Puspa will have a sibling to play with.
We often return to our village to take part in temple ceremonies, which are an important part of our lives and our faith. In the village, belief in spirits, ancestors, and unseen energies is strong. These spiritual traditions are not unusual or separate from daily life—they are a natural part of how many Balinese people live, think, and understand the world.
Our love for our culture and our pride in our heritage is what inspired us to create EBC Experience Bali Culture. Through our workshops, we want to share something real and meaningful with our guests. We want you to see beyond the beaches and tourist areas, and to understand the deeper spiritual and cultural life of Bali.
