Komang & Kris: Family Pride and Martial Arts at EBC Experience Bali Culture
At EBC Experience Bali Culture, family, tradition, and fitness go hand in hand. Komang and Kris are especially proud of their daughter for following in her father’s footsteps and practicing Taekwondo, showing dedication and discipline from a young age.
Martial arts are very popular in Bali, with the local traditional martial art called Silat, which shares some similarities with Taekwondo in its focus on strength, flexibility, and self-discipline. Kris is a passionate practitioner himself — in 2020, he was crowned Silat Champion of Bali & East Java. He continues to stay fit, healthy while teaching cultural workshops at EBC.
Visitors to EBC often see the family’s pride in action, and children and adults alike are inspired by the energy, focus, and respect that martial arts encourage. Martial arts in Bali, like Silat, are not only about self-defense but also about cultural tradition, physical health, and personal development.
Whether participating in cultural workshops or learning about Balinese daily life, guests at EBC gain insight into both Balinese traditions and the local traditions, making the experience rich, interactive, and inspiring for all ages.
